The Shorecrest Chargers Varsity Football Team came out strong Friday night in their Pre-Season opener against Keswick Christian. The game was rained out midway through the 2nd quarter with the Chargers leading Keswick with a 14-0 score. What we saw looked very promising!!
The running game looked very strong with RJ Ayers '19 pounding inside runs, and Jake Freedman '19 ripping off yardage on the outside. If Friday night's game is any indication, the Chargers defense will be very stout! The Charger's defense was dominant throughout the abbreviated contest holding the Keswick Offense to -16 yards compared to +90 yards for our Chargers.
Seniors Ethan Forsyth (2 QB sacks & 3 Tackles for loss), RJ Ayers, Hunter Ramirez and Ashton Reynolds were swarming the Keswick offense & gang tackling on every play. Freshman Dominic Murillo & Junior Luke Goldman made some impressive stops on defense for the Chargers.
If this group can stay healthy, and keep improving every week- we can have a lots of success this season! This group has 13 seniors, and tremendous leadership! We are very excited about the 2018 Chargers Football Team & what they can accomplish.
The Chargers will host Bishop McLaughlin this Friday night at home. Kickoff is at 7pm. This will be a big test for the Chargers as Bishop MCLaughlin will dress over 33 players (13 seniors).
