Shorecrest School

Fourth Grade Moving Up Ceremony

Lower School News

This week, the fourth graders marked the ending of their years as Lower School students and the beginning of a new phase of their academic and social lives in the Middle School.

They have been great role models and leaders in our community. Individually and collectively, they have done an admirable job living the Shorecrest motto of respecting oneself, others and the environment - always striving to be good members of their school and local community.

"When a group of students were recently asked about how they would describe a Shorecrest student, they said: hardworking, caring, respectful, responsible, kind, creative, supportive of others, problem solvers, can work well with others, and are good researchers and leaders. Interestingly, these are the characteristics I would use to describe our fourth graders." Dr. Bianco said.

This year has been an exceptional year. The children soared hand-in-hand with their teachers' guidance. "They worked so hard and flew so high. I observed enormous joy in their learning." parents heard from Dr. Bianco during the ceremony.

Dr. Bianco gave the rising fifth graders the following advice:

"Be true to yourself. What you care about, and what you think is important --  is important. What you love is worth loving. Take the time to teach others. Remember to be kind to one another, to be a friend to all, and to stand up for what is right - even if it is uncomfortable."

Teachers shared a short film with students' memorable moments from Lower School. Mr. Davis, Head of Middle School, then explained some of the similarities and differences between Lower School and Middle School. Visitors were then invited to the fourth grade classrooms to view small group presentations from the students.

Congratulations to the Class of 2023!
