Second graders went on a voyage of discovery with Bee-Bots and world maps. Bee-Bots are programmable floor robots, with a simple and child friendly layout and is a strong starting point for teaching control, directional language and programming to young children.
After splitting into groups with iPads and a series of world landmark clues, students had to research online where certain iconic landmarks could be found. Some examples include the Eiffel Tower, the Great Wall of China, Sydney Opera House and Leaning Tower of Pisa.
As a class, they programmed the Bee-Bots to find those countries on a giant world map spread on the floor. Their knowledge of the world was enhanced by combining map reading, directional learning, landmark recognition and much more - all while having fun!
