Packer Invitational Math Competition

Lower School News

Mathletes from Shorecrest fourth, fifth and sixth grades competed in the 1st annual Packer Invitational Math Competition at Largo High school on Saturday, February 23. Twelve elementary and middle schools from Pinellas County participated. Students practiced throughout the month of January and February to compete in both an individual and team competition.

The Chargers came home with some impressive hardware! One of the fourth grade teams placed third in the elementary division. Fourth-grader Andrei I. placed fifth and Rishi P. placed second in the individual competition. The fourth grade team of Andre I., Paul S., Olivia J., and Camilla S. took third place in the team competition.

Sixth graders Max B. and Jake M. placed in the individual test, both bringing trophies home. Max received 6th place, and Jake received 3rd place.

Fourth graders Dylan H. and Paul S. participated also in the Rubik’s Cube competition. Fifth grader Montana C. memorized and wrote, in ONE MINUTE, an impressive 86 digits of Pi.

Additionally, the fourth and fifth grade team and individual scores combined earned them the 3rd place Sweepstakes trophy, ranking them third overall among the elementary schools participating.

What a well-rounded group of Mathletes! Their faculty sponsors are so proud of their hard work and glad their success was rewarding. They are looking forward to having more Mathletes next year.
