As part of their study on landmarks, second graders visited and toured one of St Petersburg's iconic gems, the Don CeSar Hotel. They learned about the history of the hotel, its architectural story, climbed the spiral staircase to what was formerly a window that is now the entrance, passed through the ice cream parlor to view what was the former main staircase entering the hotel, and studied the history wall of facts.
The Chargers had a terrific time learning about what makes the Don CeSar a landmark. Thanks to our tour guide, Susan Owen, Guest Experience Manager at the Don, who volunteered her time making our visit a special one.
Some other landmarks the students researched and learned about were Niagara Falls, the Empire State Building and the Eiffel Tower. If you have visited a landmark and would like to talk to second graders about your experience, please contact [email protected].
