Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

During Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15) it is common to pay tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have enriched our nation and society.
Ms. Horne's and Mrs. Rebman's classes worked together in Spanish class to dedicate a Lower School Town Meeting to Hispanic Heritage Month. At Town Meeting on October 7, the students presented to all of Lower School about the influence of Hispanic music in the United States.
Every Monday during Hispanic Heritage month, SAGE has celebrated with a traditional dish from a different Hispanic country. The third graders announced the lunch for that day - which included ropa vieja from Panama and tostones from Puerto Rico.

Later in the week, a student-led group of dancers from USF, “Dance Education Organization” (pictured), presented dances from around the Spanish-speaking world to students in grades 3-8. The interactive session in the Janet Root Theatre had students doing the cha-cha and salsa, among other fun steps.
