Fourth Grade Sustainability Project Share

Lower School News

Fourth grade has been studying sustainability. In addition to many guest experts and field experiences, they have been reading articles and participating in group discussions around the problems that face our environment.

To represent their learning, fourth graders designed solutions to some environmental perils. Some of their green inventions include an app that tracks an individual's carbon footprint in real time, robots that help clean up ocean pollution, and vehicles that run on pollutive materials. Some students created social action campaigns to urge others to use less plastic and/or to reuse items more often to reduce waste. Others designed clothing from recyclable or reusable materials. One group gave up on helping planet Earth and worked on new ideas for making life sustainable on Mars.

The students enjoyed sharing their work with the community. They presented their research and their prototypes.
