Clinic byte: Illnesses reported this week

Health & Guidance

This week was National Handwashing Awareness Week. As students came into the clinic, I instructed or reminded them on the importance of handwashing. Frequent visitors know that they have to either wash or sanitize their hands before getting water from the water dispenser in the clinic.

Handwashing is the best way to prevent the spread of illness - and talking about illnesses, strep throat, hand-foot-mouth disease and mono have been reported this week. Keeping sick students home is very important in containing the spread of diseases, and remember to inform your child’s teacher of all absences and cc me if it is because of illness.

With one week to go before Winter Break, I wish for a healthy, exciting last week of school in 2015!
