Clinic byte: Relay For Life

Health & Guidance

Shorecrest is hosting Relay For Life for the American Cancer Society on Friday, April 7, 2017. It is a day when our community joins together to celebrate cancer survivors, to remember loved ones who lost the battle and to raise awareness of the disease that is getting to be much too common.

All of us have been touched by cancer directly or indirectly. We can all take steps to decrease our chances of getting cancer by keeping active, having healthy eating habits (including a rainbow of fruits and vegetables and hydration), not smoking, getting protection from the sun, having annual physical checkups and/or screening exams, managing our stress levels and getting enough sleep.

Students and faculty wore purple this week for awareness. Relay For Life helps raise cancer awareness and money to help people stay well and get well, find cures, and fight back in the hope of finding a cure. If you are new to Shorecrest, I encourage you to come take part in this meaningful event. Remember to bring hats (that cover face, head and neck), sunglasses, sunscreen cream (with SPF 30 or higher and reapply every 2 hours) and money to purchase water and other goodies.

Until next time, remain healthy!
