Contributing Chargers: Jennifer Alesia

Contributing Chargers Advancement

Shorecrest’s Mission is augmented by the generosity of our parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends who support the school philanthropically or by effecting change locally, globally or right here at Shorecrest. We call these community members Contributing Chargers.

This week we recognize Jennifer Alesia as a Contributing Charger. Since joining the community in 2018, Jennifer and her son Nick ‘30 have become active members of the Shorecrest Community. This year Jennifer joined the Advancement Committee and participated in each of our three Giving Days as a volunteer.

Jennifer moved to Florida with Nick as a single mom with a new job and did not know anyone locally. Shorecrest eased their transition. “The Shorecrest community welcomed our little family. The staff as well as other families connected with us. We've made wonderful friends and learned SO much. This is why I contribute.”

“My son Nick and I moved to St. Petersburg in November 2018 from Wilton, CT, and were welcomed with open arms by Mrs. Owen, his first grade teacher. The education, small class size, social and emotional learning and experiences Shorecrest has provided to Nick over the past four years have exceeded way beyond my expectations.

“In first grade Mrs. Owen took Nick under her wing and made sure he acclimated with ease. In second grade we were privileged to have Ms. Horne who connected with Nick not only on the educational level but also on the sports level, being both a Yankee & Villanova fan. We will always keep a special place in our hearts for her. In third grade Mrs. Hobbs kept Nick and the whole class's spirits up during the peak of the pandemic. She listened and showed deep empathy, yet still tried to make their days as much fun as possible. In our final year of Lower School, Ms. Horton has been a welcome addition to the staff. She has encouraged the writer in Nick to come out and he has written some wonderful stories.

“I can't believe Nick is about to start Middle School. WOW! However, I am so proud of the young man he has become and his experiences at Shorecrest have significantly contributed to his development.”
