MS Football vs Northside Christian 8/28

 

Shorecrest MS Football won its season opener with a dominating performance vs Northside Christian on Thursday, August 28^th. The Chargers got things going right from the start. Colin H. took the opening kickoff across the field and down the sideline for a 65yd TD.

With a 6-0 early lead, the Chargers defense hunkered down and stifled the Mustangs. Jason W and Hunter R made big plays from DE and LB positions and Zach O had an interception off of a pass breakup from Bryce S. to give the ball back to the Chargers. Unfortunately, the offense could not capitalize from the great team defense and the score at the half remained 6-0.

 

In the second half, a superb OL play from Reece L, Charlie S., Jason W., Ashton R and Ethan F gave Austin G time to find receiving targets Kyle L, Jake F, Hunter R. and Colin H., but after having several TDs called back due to penalties throughout the game the Chargers were not able to score and add cushion to the lead. The final score remained 6-0.

 

In the 5^th qtr the Chargers continued their dominating performance by playing with passion and aggression. Anthony V scored a TD and had a several fantastic runs. Jake W. made nice moves and was very exciting to watch with the ball in his hand, while Henry D also scored a TD for the Chargers. Matthew L had an interception and RJ A was a stone wall on defense at LB. The QB’s and RB’s for Northside Christian were under duress from the defense for the entire 5^th qtr and the OL did a great job blocking. It was a great effort by the entire team!
