Athletics

Despite unrelenting rain, a course at Florida Polytechnic University in Lakeland that was covered in mud, and a starting chute that claimed several shoes within the first 50 meters, sophomore Olivia R. persevered and took the individual title at the Jim Ryun Invitational on Saturday 9/20.

The girls team finished 3rd out of 24 teams and Olivia's time of 20:34 was the fastest of the 164 in that race! Kai G. finished 9th with a time of 21:59  to help the team to this fantastic finish! Caya S., Lily S., Peninah B., Kat F., and Elizabeth H. rounded out the team effort.

On the JV side, the girls team finished 3rd and the boys 5th overall. The girls were led by 7th grader Isabelle S. who finished 2nd with a time of 24:18. The boys were led by Freshman Samuel B. who finished with a time of 21:17.

The Varsity boys team travelled to North Port to compete in the Elite division of the North Port XC Invitational. The team finished 13th out of 26 teams, and were led by Luke P.'s 18th place finish with a time of 16:59. The boys also battled less than ideal conditions and Coach Dillon was pleased with their performance. It was a valuable experience indeed!
