The eighth graders are getting ready for their field experience in Washington DC. One location they will visit, The National Portrait Gallery, celebrates leaders who have shaped our nation's history and culture. Shorecrest currently has a Fifth Grade Portrait Gallery in the Sher Center hallway that celebrates our students.
After learning how to use a grid for specific facial proportions, students took selfies, divided their face in half and placed a grid onto their photo. Using a paper with the same size grid, students proceeded to draw their portraits.
The knowledge they gained from the experience of using a grid will be used in their Mapping the World Geography class, and in many art projects to come.
