Three Shorecrest Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

Upper School News

Shorecrest seniors Clay D, Max K and Sara S have been named National Merit Semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The three Shorecrest seniors earned their semifinalist status with their exceptional scores on the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), ranking their scores in the top 1% of High School Seniors in the United States. They are three of only 12 students in the City of St. Petersburg to earn the honor.

About 16,000 students, or approximately one-third of the 50,000 high scorers, are notified that they have qualified as Semifinalists. To ensure that academically talented young people from all parts of the United States are included in this talent pool, Semifinalists are designated on a state-representational basis.

To be considered for a National Merit® Scholarship, Semifinalists must advance to Finalist standing in the competition by meeting high academic standards and all other requirements explained in the information provided to each Semifinalist. Finalists will be notified in February.
