Shorecrest Swim & Dive is getting better and better as the regular season nears its end with first place finishes at the Bay Conference Championship and the girls winning their dual meet against Pinellas Park and Lakewood. The boys lost by only a few points due to the juniors being unable to attend. The icing on the cake though was the double win by both the boys and girls teams at this year’s City Championship Meet!
The Chargers dominated Bay Conference on both the boys and girls side as it is scored out of the Tampa Bay Classic Meet. For the Classic the girls were third overall and the boys were fourth. We had a lot of fast swims as we prepared for the City Championships that were to follow.
For the Shorecrest girls against Lakewood and Pinellas Park we were able to win every event except one. The 200 Medley Relay (Sarah L., Hannah D., Taylor E. and Emery C.) got us off to a great start, followed by the 200 Free (Courtney C., Emery C., Clara W., Hannah B.) and the 400 Free ( Courtney C., Taylor E., Clara W., Hannah B.). Winning two events each were Clara W. (200 Free & 100 Breast), Courtney C. (50 Free, 500 Free), Taylor E. (100 Free, 100 Back) and winning one each were Shannon R. (200 IM) and Lauren B. (Diving).
The boys went back and forth with Lakewood all night and were able to win the 400 Free Relay (Jake A., Jack L., Joseph B., Caleb K.), the 50 Free (Caleb K.) and Diving (Dominic H.)

The City Championship meet is the final “big” meet of the regular season and is a particular focus for the Chargers every year. It was truly a team effort to handily win both titles of City Champions and we are so proud of the entire team. Our relays were strong once again with the girls 200 Medley and 400 Free (Clara W., Courtney C., Taylor E., Hannah B.) taking first place. The girls 200 Medley also broke the City record, held by Shorecrest, with a time of 1:52.12!
Taking individual first place for the girls was Hannah B. (50 and 100 Free). The boys 400 Free Relay (Caleb K., Jake A., Pablo C., Joseph B.) were crowned City Champs along with individuals, Caleb K. (100 Fly) and Joseph B. (500 Free). Congratulations to the entire team on a job well done!

This week, Middle School concludes their regular season and we recognize our seniors, Hannah B., Courtney C., Alyssa F., Jake A., Max K. and Jack L. on Thursday at our meet against Northside Christian.
