The fourth grade class of 2025 finished out their year with a trip to Zoe's Garden at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital.
These students started a sustainability and composting unit back in August, and their final step in completing this study was to deliver their "black gold" to Tyson Grant, the Chef / Owner of Parkshore Grille and creator of Zoe's Garden.
Mr. Grant's daughter Zoe, born in 2011 and delivered at this very hospital, only lived a short time. In her honor, Chef Tyson and his wife Summer created a beautiful space for children at the hospital to come and relax and eat from this edible garden. This was the third consecutive year that the fourth graders of Shorecrest have participated in this project. Creating compost and then using it to plant herbs and vegetables in this special place is their way of giving back to their community to make a difference.
