Art by Kira Held ‘20 accepted to Dali Exhibition

US Visual Arts

Upper School art students in Mr. Sober’s class were assigned to create a surreal image, per the guidelines of Dali’s annual Pinellas County Student Surrealist Art Exhibit. The theme for 2018 is “The Marvelous, the Fantastic, & the Grotesque.” Initiated in 1985, this annual art exhibit presents work by middle and high school students who are invited to explore ideas and visions similar to those explored by Dali and the surrealists.

Each teacher was allowed to submit six entries, and sophomore Kira Held’s art was selected to be displayed at The Dali January 6–March 4, 2018. The Student Exhibit is located in The Dali Museum’s Community Room.

Kira used Photoshop for most of her piece. The image of her classmate, Chase Andrews, was taken on her phone and vectorized using an app called Adobe Capture.

A Reception & Awards Ceremony will be held February 20. Learn more at: http://thedali.org/exhibit/student-surrealist-art-exhibit-2018
