Congratulations to Heidi Hicks '21 on another amazing art accomplishment!
This week 1,700 students received news of their recognition at the national level of the Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards program. Heidi Hicks '21 won a Gold Medal for her painting, "Perception." This medal is in addition to the Gold Key American Vision Award and the 4 Gold Keys, 1 Silver Key and 1 Honorable Mention that she won in 2020-21 at the regional level.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have an impressive legacy dating back to 1923. Over the years, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have grown to become the longest-running, most prestigious program for creative teens in the U.S., and the nation’s largest source of scholarships for creative young artists and writers. This year, nearly 230,000 works were entered into the Awards by students from every state in the nation for adjudication. Normally, award-winning students are whisked away to Carnegie Hall in New York City to celebrate, but this year there will be a virtual ceremony.
