Congratulations to the following Shorecrest Upper School students whose artwork was featured in the 2022 Emerging Artists Pinellas County High School Virtual Exhibition hosted by Art Festival Beth-El: Benny Ames ‘23, Libby Cenedella ‘24, Julianne Lurie ‘25, Ashli McKenny ‘22, Sara Rose ‘23 and Chase Waitz-Miller ‘23.
Their art was among 147 student pieces that Art Festival Beth-El displayed virtually, adjudicated from work that was submitted to Pinellas County Schools for the Scholastic competition. View the work in the Art Festival Beth-El virtual show here.
Sara Rose ‘23 had one of six pieces selected from the 147 and awarded a Sonya and Irwin Miller Award of Excellence and cash prize for her painting “Her Rejection” (pictured).
All of the students awarded Scholastic Gold and Silver Keys or whose work received an Honorable Mention were recognized during the Pinellas County Art Region of the Scholastic Art Awards Ceremony on February 9 at Gibbs High School.
Congratulations to Ashli McKenny ‘22 for winning one of the prestigious local awards at the ceremony - the PAVA Award of Excellence - for her mixed media work, "Endless Flight." The PAVA Award of Excellence is sponsored by the Professional Association of Visual Arts (PAVA). Only four student artworks from the hundreds submitted to this year’s Scholastic competition were selected by the PAVA Education Committee judges.
