Broadway Star of the Future Awards are Regional awards affiliated with the National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) or the Jimmy™ Awards. The Jimmy™ Award for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor is awarded annually to two grand prize winners selected from a group of student performers representing participating professional theatres nationwide.

Directors Bill Leavengood '78 & Cheryl Lee will be notified by May 10 if Shorecrest thespians are Award Recipients, and if they are invited to perform at the Tony-inspired Awards Showcase in Ferguson Hall at the Straz Center in Tampa on Sunday, June 2 at 2pm.

The nominees for Outstanding Actor, Actress and Supporting Performer are already invited to participate in the Opening and Closing numbers for the Awards Showcase. If "Cinderella" is selected as the Outstanding Musical, Shorecrest will be asked to prepare a 5-minute "Cinderella" medley to be performed at the Awards Showcase.

At the Broadway Star of the Future Showcase in Tampa, Winners of Best Performance by an Outstanding Actor and Best Performance by an Outstanding Actress will be selected. Winners are then invited to attend the Jimmy Awards / National High School Musical Theatre Awards in New York City, expenses paid.
