Scholastic National Silver Keys for Angel Cherman '19

Each year, the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers recognizes art and literary art students and teachers through the Scholastic Awards for Art and Writing. Teens in grades 7–12 (ages 13 and up) apply in 29 categories of art and writing. In 2019, students submitted nearly 340,000 works of art and writing to the Scholastic Awards.
 
Students with Gold Key works (see earlier Ebytes  https://www.shorecrestebytes.com/news-detail?pk=1063360) are judged nationally by an impressive panel of creative–industry experts to receive National Medals, including Gold, Silver, American Visions & Voices, Portfolio Silver with Distinction or Portfolio Gold Medals and Sponsored Awards. National Medalist are recognized in part at the National Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
 
Angel won two silver National Medals; one for her drawing entitled, Abuse, and one for her painting, Black Beauty. Out of 340,000 entries, Angel’s award places her in the top 1% of all submissions.
 
Additionally, the high level instruction and guidance that our students receive was also recognized, Upper School Art Instructor Charla Gaglio won an Outstanding Educator award through Scholastic.
