Spotlight on Chris Craig ‘02

Since graduating and leaving the campus of Shorecrest Preparatory School, alumni Chargers have gone on to serve their communities and work in every career field imaginable.
Chris Craig is a Shorecrest lifer, having attended the school from junior kindergarten through his graduation in 2002. We recently caught up with Chris for a cup of coffee at the Starbucks on 4th Street and 50th Ave N, a spot frequented by much of the Shorecrest community. Our meeting location was a stone's throw from Chris’ new business, Brightway Insurance at 5001 4th Street N.
Chris graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Economics in 2007. Recently moving back to the St. Petersburg area and back to Venetian Isles, Chris was looking for a new opportunity. So why insurance? “I wanted to use my existing knowledge of real estate and the auto industry to guide others through stressful times. I enjoy being an expert that people can trust,” Chris stated. Brightway assists with personal, auto and home insurance and Chris’ favorite part of working in the insurance business is being responsible for finding the right coverage for home buyers. “They are going through a stressful time, and I am able to make finding the right Insurance coverage simple.”
Chris credits his time at Shorecrest and his involvement in many of the athletic teams for his work ethic and determination. Chris shared that, “Playing football for Coach Hayford and Coach Field was instrumental in my growth as a youth. I learned the importance of a 'perfect practice' and hard work. Their persistence as mentors showed how dedicated they were to our success not only as athletes but as young men. Playing football at Shorecrest may be the biggest reason for my success.”
Outside of work, Chris’ life is fitness oriented. He participates in the St. Anthony’s Triathlon every year with his family. He also enjoys paddleboarding in various tranquil spots around the St. Pete area.
In 10 years, Chris sees his agency expanding (he is currently hiring) and as a successful part of the community. He looks forward to connecting with Shorecrest families, alumni and faculty/staff. Feel free to reach out to Chris!
