Delayed Start for Interscholastic Competition

Athletics


Based on the recommendation of the Shorecrest Health & Safety Task Force, Chargers Athletics will delay the start of interscholastic Fall Athletic competition for the next two to four weeks. Training/conditioning programs for all fall sports continues the week of August 24.  
  • The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) has cleared teams to begin fall sports on August 24.
  • The two- to four-week delay from interscholastic competition will allow Shorecrest an opportunity to assess the environment and ensure that competition can proceed in a safe and healthy manner. 
  • Interested athletes and teams will be allowed to train and prepare for the fall season, following the school’s Health and Safety protocols.

TRANSPORTATION 
For on-campus in-person students who cannot access their own transportation to training for golf, swimming & diving, and sailing, the School will provide bus transportation to those off-campus training sites, following all Health and Safety guidelines, including: 
  • Universal masking of all students, coaches and drivers
  • Socially distanced loading/unloading procedures and seating 
  • Vehicle windows open to facilitate airflow 
  • Fogging/disinfecting of vehicles between groups 
All other extracurricular activities will also go forward in a limited fashion for the next two to four weeks with no performances, no competitions, small groupings, and with the understanding that activities must follow all outlined Health and Safety protocols.
