It is animation time in Lower School! All of the classes in kindergarten through fourth grade will be learning about stop motion animation in the next few months. They will use the Stop Motion Studio app, which can be downloaded for free. It is a fun and easy way to make animations.
First, students in kindergarten will make their movies about ocean life and plastic pollution. They have painted their backgrounds in watercolors, using photos of coral as reference material. For their characters, they sketched plastic models of sea creatures as well as human and mythological figures to add to their story. They watched “The Whale's Tale” for inspiration.
Kindergarteners tell charming and optimistic stories in their animations about saving our beautiful oceans and sea creatures by reducing plastic waste. Look for them on PowerSchool - LS ART PSL week of March 1-15. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “The future depends on what you do today.”
