How do you measure a building as tall as Charger Commons? Students in Mrs. Dernbach's Upper School Geometry class recently had a lab to answer that question. They used indirect measurement to find the height of tall structures around campus.
A clinometer helped the students measure the angle of elevation to their object. The angle, the height of the student to their eyes, and the distance from the student to the object were all used in calculating the height of structures.
