Kindergarten Explores "All About Me"
In the heart of kindergarten, the first inquiry study of the year has begun with an exploration of the most fundamental question: "Who are we?" These young Chargers will get to know themselves, their classmates, and other community members a little bit better.
The student journey commenced with an exploration of their personal preferences - including favorite colors, animals, foods, places to go, and games to play. Inquisitive minds wondered, "Who are our classmates?" and "Who are our classroom teachers?" Learning the first letters of everyone's first names was one way to get to know their kindergarten classmates better.
The young learners embarked on a creative adventure, filling out "all about me" posters, which served as windows into their personalities. These posters also led to a delightful encounter with special visitors from around the campus who shared their own "all about me" posters, creating connections within the school community. Nancy Spencer, Head of School, opened the conversation by sharing tales of playing outside with her twin brother and her love for reading. Other engaging presentations were from Dr. Lisa Bianco, Head of Lower School; Roderick Fludd, Directory of Diversity and Inclusion; Mr. Brian from the facilities department, who wowed the students with magic tricks; and Security Officer Shane.
More stories will be shared soon by Señora Emili, Spanish Teacher; Ms. Erin from SAGE Dining; Mr. Roberto, Lower School Music Teacher; and Nurse Conroy. These interactions aim to provide insights into the diverse backgrounds and interests of the individuals who make up the Shorecrest community.
