Contributing Chargers: MaskUp St. Pete

Shorecrest’s Mission is only made possible by the generosity of our parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends who support the school philanthropically or by effecting change locally, globally or right here at Shorecrest. We call these community members Contributing Chargers.
The first Contributing Chargers of the year we’d like to recognize are Ella Holland ‘21 and Jaeden Geffon ‘22. Together they started MaskUp St. Pete, a nonprofit that makes and sells face masks to help stop the spread of COVID-19. For each mask sold, they donate one mask to a person in need. As if they weren’t busy enough at the start of a new school year, the siblings also prepared and donated masks to the dedicated Shorecrest faculty and staff.
“It’s about helping the community,” Jaeden said. “When the coronavirus got bad, we knew we wanted to do something to help people.”
"The nonprofit part was easy and the website took a few weeks to set up," Ella said.
With the help of family and friends, the sibling duo has been able to produce more than 800 masks since their launch this spring, making orders from as far away as Norway.
Ella and Jaeden are living the Shorecrest mission and core values to Be More, as well as their Jewish heritage and the concept of tikkun olam, acts performed to help repair the world.
Thank you MaskUP St. Pete for donating over 180 masks to the loving faculty at Shorecrest!
The impact of our Contributing Chargers are felt everyday. When we make a gift or volunteer our time to Shorecrest, we are really just giving back to each other.
