Shorecrest had a great showing at the 7th annual Mayor's Youth Showcase of Acheivement Awards. The evening of teen entertainment and achievement is led by Mayor Rick Kriseman, TASCO Teen Programs, and Florida Central Credit Union at the Mahaffey Theater. The event highlights Pinellas County’s most talented students with performances, accolades, visuals and awards.
Teens are awarded for being the best of the best in eight categories:

- Scholar Athlete
- Overcoming Adversity
- Performing Arts
- Academic Achievement
- Citizenship or Leadership
- Visual Arts
- Literary Arts
- Science & Technology
- Will Lovelace '17 winner in Overcoming Adversity category
- Charlotte Leavengood '17 winner in Literary Arts category (for the second straight year)
- Sophie E finalist for Scholar Athlete
- Kayelin L nominated for Performing Arts
- Oliver H nominated for Citizenship / Leadership
- Taylor R nominated for Scholar Athlete
Finalists received a $100 savings account; winners received a $300 savings account and an iPad mini.
In addition, the Shorecrest cast of Les Misérables provided a stupendous closing number (ONE MORE DAY). Thank you to Michael McCarthy, Cheryl Lee, Bill Leavengood, Renee Savage and a wonderful cast for shining one more time!
