Starting with spring practices, Anthony McCall, Shorecrest’s Athletic Director, will lead the Chargers on the gridiron as their new Varsity Head Coach. McCall will replace Coach Steve Dudley, who has served as the Varsity Head Coach since the Fall 2014 season.
McCall has more than 20 years of experience as an educator, coach and administrator. Under his tenure as AD at Montgomery Academy in Montgomery, Alabama, the various varsity teams won 34 State Championships, were State Runner-up 19 times, and amassed a number of Area, Region, and Section championships.
A seasoned coach in both basketball and football, his varsity basketball teams advanced to three State Final Fours, had seven State Regional appearances, and won nine Area Championships. McCall's varsity football teams had a record of 40-17 over five seasons which included two Region Championships, one Region runner-up, and three playoff appearances. During that span his teams advanced to the State Quarterfinals twice. As an assistant for five seasons, he had the opportunity to serve as offensive coordinator (2 seasons), quarterbacks coach (2 seasons), receivers coach (3 seasons), defensive backs coach (5 seasons) and special teams coordinator (2 seasons).
Himself a former student-athlete, McCall attended Auburn University on an athletic scholarship for football.

“Coach Dudley did a good job building relationships with his players and instilling a desire to compete and persevere. It is with great excitement that I join the team of players, parents and the entire Shorecrest community in continuing that work, and moving the ball even further to enhance the football experience at Shorecrest,” stated McCall.
The Varsity Charger football team 2018 season record was 5-3 (including playoffs) and they lost in the SSAC Bay Conference Final.
Spring football information will be posted when available.
