Holly M's Art Selected for STA Calendar

Arts Upper School News

Shorecrest junior Holly M has been selected as one of twelve winners in the 7th annual Southern Teacher's Student Art Contest. This year, the Southern Teachers Agency received over 400 submissions to the contest. The artwork of the twelve winning students will be reproduced in the STA art calendar for the 2016-17 academic year. The STA will print 15,000 calendars and send them to over 2,000 schools around the country.

In addition to copies of the calendar, Holly will receive $50 worth of gift certificates for art supplies from Blick Art Materials.

" 'My Favorite Spot' is a delightful piece," STA commented about Holly's art, "and you should be proud of your student’s success! At Southern Teachers, we believe that teaching the fine arts is fundamentally important to the overall education of children. Art teachers develop in their students not only an aesthetic sense and technical abilities, but also creativity and imagination, which are essential talents in our ever-changing world."

Please congratulate Holly when you see her; she is an amazing artist and a deserving individual!
