With another rain delay attempting to jeapordize the Shorecrest vs. Lakewood and Osceola meet, the teams were able to wait out the lightning and start the meet a half hour late. Fortunately the delay had no effect on a double Chargers victory!
Leading the way on the boys side with double first place wins were: Paul R. (200 and 500 Free), Mark M. (200 IM and 100 Free), Jake A. (50 and 100 Free), Felix S. (100 Fly and 100 Back) and winning one event each were: Luigi P. (100 Breast) and Oliver H. (diving). The 200 Medley Relay (Felix S., Luigi P., Mark M. and Jake A. and 400 Free Relay (Felix S., Luigi P., Paul R. and Mark M.) contributed with first place finishes against both teams.
The girls were up to the task as well with two individual wins by: Meredith L. (50 and 100 Free) and Courtney C. (200 IM and 100 Breast). Single winners were Taylor E. (100 Fly) and Athina Z. (100 Back) with the 400 Free Relay (Meredith L., Hannah B., Molly R. and Courtney C.) winning against both teams.
This was a total team effort from all members of both the boys and girls squad scoring points that contributed to the overall success!

This past Saturday was one of the favorite events of the year – the Relay/Spirit Meet. The girls team was thrilled to finish in fifth place overall and took home a trophy for their efforts. The boys were just out of the trophies with a seventh place overall finish. More importantly, Shorecrest Swim & Dive took home the Class 1A Spirit Award! Dressed up as “nerds”, with suspenders and glasses with tape on them and too-small Shorecrest uniform polo shirts, and cheering like crazy, won them the honor this year.

The Middle Division squad had their relay meet at Berkeley Prep last Thursday. It was a great learning experience for all of the swimmers and we are looking forward to lots of improvements as the season progresses.
Next up: Chargers at Berkeley Prep on Tuesday, September 16th, 5pm.
