CHARGERS HOST SUCCESSFUL REGION MEET, ADVANCE TO STATE

Athletics

Shorecrest Swim & Dive hosted the 2014 1A-3 Region Meet this past Saturday and the home pool advantage served us well! The Chargers boys team finished as runners-up and the girls team were third overall. This is a tremendous accomplishment in what turned out to be a very fast meet.

Leading the boys team was Josh C. with a win in the 100 Breast and second in the 50 Free which automatically qualified him to the State meet. Mark M. also qualified in both of his events (200 IM and 100 Fly) individually, as did Felix S. in the 100 Back.  These three contributed on both the 200 Medley Relay along with Jake A. and on the 400 Free along with Corey C. Both of these relays achieved a berth at the state meet.

The girls were led by Courtney C. with a second place finish and new school record time in the 100 Breast (1:08.75) and Meredith L. with a second place finish in the 50 Free.  Both qualified automatically in these events and also qualified in the 200 IM and 100 Free respectively. Courtney and Meredith also contributed on the state qualifying 200 Medley Relay along with Athina Z. and Taylor E. and on the 400 Free Relay along with Hannah B. and Athina Z.

Congratulations to these hard-working swimmers and best of luck at Saturday’s meet in Stuart. Go Chargers!
