Chargers vs Calvary Christian, 1/7, 75-72 Loss
Calvary Christian proved to be more patient and took advantage of the Chargers' inside all night and prevailed 75-72 in this district contest. The first district loss now puts the Chargers in a tie with Calvary at 1 loss, with both teams winning on their home courts. This is the Chargers' first regular season loss in 2-years and should provide the proper incentive come district tournament time. The Chargers and Calvary Christian seem destined for a re-match in the district finals, a repeat of last year.

With the Chargers starting slowly, it looked like Tyee was putting the team on his back with three 2nd quarter 3-pointers and 13 points in the quarter, but the Chargers couldn’t slow Calvary, and were down 55-52 after 3. The 3rd quarter was a slugfest as Devin G. made 2 -3’s, Devin F. made a 3 and two sweet moves to the basket, and the Chargers reduced the lead to 55-52 after 3 quarters. Then it was "Marcus time" in the 4th as he repeatedly got to the rim, but again the inside game of Calvary and the lack of turnovers created by the Charger press kept the game close with Calvary clinging to a slim lead the entire quarter.

During the last minute, the Chargers cut a 6 point lead to 1, but a long pass on the full court press enabled Calvary to go up 3 and Aundre’s ½ court shot at the buzzer just rimmed out.

For the game, Tyee and Marcus had 18 points, Kent had 15 and Devin F. had 10.

Chargers vs Admiral Farragut, 1/8, 64-47 Win
The Chargers methodically pulled away as Farragut tried to slow the game down to a ½ court affair. The Chargers had their best defensive effort of the year and held Farragut to 11 points in the first half and led 25-11. The team held their top scorer without a point in the first half and Aundre took charge, leading to his 3rd foul which took the energy out of our opponent.

The team cruised to a 45-21 3rd quarter lead and the game was decided from there. Everyone scored in a balanced effort. Devin G had 12 on 4-3’s, Kent added 11, Marcus 10, Tyee and Colin had 8, Aundre had 7. The team had 13 -3’s, our shooting touch was back!

Chargers vs Northside Christian, 1/12, 87-52 Win
A slow start enable NSC to stay in the game the first quarter, but by halftime the Chargers were up 41-25. The game was overshadowed by Marcus B. making his 1,000th career point (the 4th player in the last 4-years after a nearly 15 year hiatus). Marcus embodies a consummate teammate and also is a superb student athlete. He is currently leading the team averaging 16 pts, 8 rebounds and 5 assist per game. Many nights, the team goes how Marcus goes. This night the team had plenty of weapons to put away Northside. Kent K had 29 points, tying a career high; Devin G. had a career high in 3-pionters in a game with 7 leading to 21 points.
