Taking a step back and looking at where you started and where you finished is an important lesson for everyone. That moment could not have been captured better than when Coach Z celebrated the growth of the Chargers MS football team at the season ending banquet. With a team that went from being winless in his first year to compiling a record of 9-3 over the past two seasons, it is easy to see how they are on the rise!
The banquet started with a recap of the many contributions of the six graders on the team and how they will make a huge impact next year. Then the seventh graders were discussed and what it is to be a winner. This was highlighted by Cody winning the lineman of the year award and Trey winning Co Defensive player of the year. In addition the passing of the torch on offense was handed to Jake W- WR, Cyrus- TE and Talon QB. “It is your team now. Own the outcome!" Coach said.
Finally the eighth graders who helped rebuild the program were celebrated. It started with Patrick who made a huge impact on the team as a great DE/TE in his first year. Drew B another first year player who was MR. everything and walked away with the teams MVP. His ability to adapt and fight through games was inspiring to everyone. Finally, the original six players were noted. These are the eighth graders who believed when no one else did and never gave up on themselves or each other. First there is Chase- C/DE winning the most improved player. Jake K who was an incredible lineman. Jack who had his season cut short with a broken arm and never stopped supporting his team. There was Enzo who was the captain of the Defense and CO Defensive MVP. James F accumulated over 17 scoring catches in his 2 years starting at WR for Shorecrest. He led the team in receiving and was named Co-Offensive MVP. Finally, the QB who kept it all together - believing in himself, his teamates, and that anything is possible - Rogan K had an exceptional season and was also named co offensive MVP.

MS Football is a program on the rise thanks to the support of the Parents, Players, Coaches, Team Mom, Team Videographer and Team Photographer. You can support this team at their spring game and next season in the fall. How? Cheer on your Chargers at games, and if you have a child interseted in joining the team, have them come out and see if it works for them. Everyone is welcome!
