How are Lower School Math Classes Structured?
- Problems & Investigations
Problems are posed to the whole class. Students work in pairs, small groups, or independently, and then they compare strategies and solutions. Mistakes are celebrated as opportunities for growth. - Work Places
Math games that reinforce key skills. - Number Corner
Skill-building program involving the classroom calendar and an element of suspense/surprise. Students have an active role. Provides daily practice with math concepts and building automaticity of math facts. - Homework
Assignments sent home that support what is being taught in the classroom.
