made possible with a Tampa Bay Esturary Program Mini-Grant

The 8th graders divided and conquered several things last week working in the field.  One group worked on mixing dirt (really mud) and planting new bay grasses to replenish grasses in our bay grass plot. They really enjoyed the time to be outside and to get dirty.

The rest of the students collected their first data set at the channel just north of the school. Students were assigned the job of recorder, tech, or water. The recorded was responsible for transporting materials and recording data on paper. The tech person was responsible for running the SparkVue program and the bluetooth sensors to collect the data. The water person had the challenging job of walking in the muck to collect water several times. Everyone seemed to enjoy the experience of collecting real-life data.
