As part of the Coastal Awareness Program, the eighth graders traveled to Sawgrass Lake Park last Friday to practice their naturalist skills. The goal of the trip was for students to find, photograph and identify native species. They were able to observe many cool things like maple trees, bald cypress, a great blue heron, a green heron, a florida water snake, raccoons, a limpkin, and even a mother alligator with 8 - 10 baby gators. The day was perfect! We hiked and saw more organisms that some kids could keep up with.
