On Wednesday, March 16 at 5:30pm, Christine Idinge and Steve Collins will host a 30-minute parent info session about the upcoming seventh grade class trip to Seacamp. The meeting will be in classroom MD 4, and will provide parents with an overview of the trip and allow them to ask any questions they may have.
Seacamp is a three-day/two-night experiential marine science / environmental studies opportunity located on Big Pine Key in the Florida Keys. This trip bridges Life Science (Grade 7) with Marine Science (Grade 8) near the end of the Shorecrest grade 7 year. Students study marine life and water ecosystems in still pools and in and around coral reefs. Students take a swim test at Seacamp and their time is divided among lab work, snorkeling, playing and studying. Awareness of the fragile nature of our marine environments is a cornerstone of the Seacamp mission, and this program fosters critical thinking and hands on awareness of real world challenges.
