Seventh grader Cal B. was one of the top four finalist in the 56th Annual Rotary Middle School Speech Contest held at St Pete High. He competed against eight other Bay Area middle schoolers. The topic this year was, “What do you think is the single biggest issue facing the United States today? How would you attempt to solve it?”
Cal's speech focused on the limitations of standardized testing and the need for more schools to teach problem solving skills.
At a Rotary Luncheon at the St. Pete Yacht club on Friday, April 28, Abbie G from Lutheran Church of the Cross School was named the first place winner.
