Shorecrest Chargers Middle School Track and Field had an outstanding year! There were strong performances throughout the season leading up to the Championship at home on March 1.
17 girls and boys teams traveled from all across the Tampa Bay region to compete in the MS Championship Track Meet. This meet was also broadcasted and covered by milesplit.com, the biggest website for track and field in Florida.
The Chargers placed 2nd overall out of 17 girls teams with a lot of strong performances. The boys also had a strong showing placing 5th overall. The championship was an all-team effort on both sides.
There were also some Middle School records set this season! The girls 4x100m relay team was chasing a record all season. They were able to earn it in the Championship meet, breaking the record by a .10 of a second. The girls were also able to break the 4x400m relay record. Alex E. '26 received the Baton about 10 meters behind Northside. Running her fourth event for the day, she found the will to come back and out-leaned Northside Christian at the tape. That effort, along with the great performances of the other girls on the relay team, earned 2nd place and a school record in that event.
About an hour earlier, Asher W. '26 did something very similar, fighting from 4th to help the boys earn 3rd place in the sprint medley relay on the final stretch.
These are just a few of the great performances the Chargers had throughout the day.
Here is a list of top three finishers from Shorecrest in all events:
