Longtime Shorecrest Spanish teacher Maria Evora passed away on December 30, 2016, at the age of 91 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Born in Santa Clara, Cuba, in 1925, she came to Florida in 1968. She began working as a Spanish teacher at Shorecrest in the fall of 1976 and was a member of the Foreign Langauge Faculty at the school for twenty years, retiring in the spring of 1996.
Maria is survived by her children: Vivian Evora, Layla (Thomas) Tremaine, and Orlando (Carrie) Evora, seven grandchildren: Brandon, Taylor '07, Hunter '10, Parker, Connor, Austin and Paige, and one great-grandson: Oliver.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Sra. Evora on January 14th, 2017 from 9:30-10:30am at Transfiguration Catholic Church (4000 43rd St. N, St. Petersburg, FL 33714).
