Shorecrest School

Contributing Chargers: Muzzarelli Family

Contributing Chargers

Shorecrest’s Mission is augmented by the generosity of our parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends who support the school philanthropically or by effecting change locally, globally or right here at Shorecrest. We call these community members Contributing Chargers.

This week we would like to recognize Daniel and Sasha Muzzarelli, parents of Diana '27, Leonardo '30 and Lila '33. Not only are the Muzzarellis generous donors to the Shorecrest Fund, this year Sasha is supporting Shorecrest through her time and talents as one of the newest members of the Advancement Committee.

When asking what Shorecrest means to their family, Sasha responded by saying:

“Over the past ten years, we’ve moved several times as we’ve expanded our family, pursued careers and explored different cities (including New York, Connecticut and our hometown of West Palm Beach). Three years ago, we decided to make St. Petersburg our home - the place we would put down roots in a community and raise our growing family. After visiting Shorecrest, we knew that it would be a good fit for our family. The warmth, strong sense of community and child-centered approach to learning was evident during our first campus tour.

"As we begin our third year at Shorecrest, I am happy to say that our first impression has proven to be true - even and especially through a pandemic. However, what I have to come to appreciate even more about Shorecrest is how our three children have grown, despite different interests, learning styles and personalities.

"Our competitive seventh grader, Diana '27, is flourishing in Honors Math, on the debate and forensics team and on the golf team. Our fourth grader, Leonardo '30, is working hard on his math and reading comprehension skills during his last year of Lower School. While preparing for Middle School, he is still able to express himself creatively with fictional writing, an engineering unit and ukulele during Miss Marilyn’s music class. Our once shy first grader, Lila '33, has blossomed into a confident learner and artist right before our eyes. She truly feels that her teacher and classmates are her home away from home. There’s no better feeling than seeing your 'baby' get out of the car each day and wave goodbye with a big smile on her face!

"We have chosen to give to the Shorecrest Fund this school year because we know we are a part of something special. We are grateful to have found this community of families and educators that care about both our children and our community.”

The impact of Contributing Chargers is felt every day. When we make a gift or volunteer our time to Shorecrest, we are really just giving back to each other.
