Shorecrest’s Mission is augmented by the generosity of our parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends who support the school philanthropically or by effecting change locally, globally or right here at Shorecrest. We call these community members Contributing Chargers.
This week we recognize Kim and Hutch Craig '89 as Contributing Chargers. Kim and Hutch are parents of second-generation Shorecrest students Julia ’21 and Kate ’24. The entire Craig family has been deeply involved in the Shorecrest community since 1977, through their time, talents and philanthropic support.
This year, in partnership with the School, the Craig family helped create the Middle School Ancillary Fund, the first of its kind, supporting the Middle School’s ancillary needs and travel expenses for deserving students. When asked why they chose to support this new fund, Kim responded with the following:
“Shorecrest is important to us because our girls have thrived in the Shorecrest community academically, athletically and socially. The sense of community and the way so many people (those employed by Shorecrest, the families that send their children here or sent their children here) work very hard to ensure our students are successful not only in the classroom but in life.
We hope our gift will allow all students to partake in the Middle School trips that are offered. We feel traveling is an important part of learning, whether it be across the state to St. Augustine or to Washington, D.C. It provides a sense of independence, adventure and learning while creating a bond with classmates and teachers.”
The impact of Contributing Chargers like Kim and Hutch Craig '89, along with the members of our community, can be felt every day. The Craig family hopes their support will inspire others to donate in support of the Middle School Ancillary Fund.
