SWIM & DIVE WINS CONFERENCE

Shorecrest Chargers Swim and Dive once again has taken the girls and boys title of Bay Conference champions! Winning every event except two, the Chargers defeated both Northside Christian and Keswick Christian to retain the coveted conference banner in our athletic center.
Congratulations to individual conference champions Courtney C. (200 IM and 100 Breast), Meredith L. (50 and 100 Free), Sophie E. (diving), Taylor E. (100 Fly), Athina Z. (100 Back), Paul R. (200 and 500 Free), Pablo C. (200 IM), Jake A. (50 Free), Joshua J. (diving), Felix S. (100 Fly and 100 Back), Luigi P. (100 Free and 100 Breast). Conference winning relays were for girls: 200 Medley (Athina Z., Courtney C., Taylor E. and Meredith L.), 200 Free (Monica C., Hannah B., Sarah M., and Molly R.), and 400 Free (Meredith L., Hannah B., Athina Z. and Courtney C.). On the boys side the first place relays were: 200 Medley (Corey C., Luigi P., Felix S. and Jake A.); 200 Free (Felix S., Luigi P., Jake A. and Paul R.) and 400 Free (Paul R., Joseph B., Corey C. and Pablo C.).

The Bay Conference is scored from the preliminaries of the larger Tampa Bay Classic Meet and this year was once again a very fast meet. After the finals that evening the girls were happy with their third place overall finish and the boys were right in it with a fourth place finish. As the team readies for the upcoming district meet, it was great to see some fast times from the majority of the team, especially the girls medley relay, which again set a new school record with a fast 1:51.97. Congratulations to Athina Z., Courtney C., Taylor E and Meredith L. on this accomplishment! Meredith L. set a new time standard by breaking her own meet and school records in the 100 Free with a 53.00. What a great job by all!
This Thursday is the varsity team's final meet against Northside Christian and also Senior Night. The team is looking forward to the annual pre-meet dinner honoring our seniors: Kylie A., Monica C., Sarah M., Molly R., Josh C., Mark M. and Paul R. There will be a special ceremony during the break of the swim meet, and we hope to see many Shorecrest friends and family there for the occasion.
