SADD Red Ribbon Week
This week, SADD celebrated Red Ribbon Week. This is a special time to remember DEA Agent "Kiki" Enrique Camarena, who was brutally tortured in Mexico after being discovered as an under-cover agent by a drug cartel. The first Red Ribbon Week was proclaimed in 1988 by the U.S. Congress, in support of Agent Camarena and the cause he gave his life for - combating drugs.
In Kiki's honor, students pledge to remain drug free. SADD members arrived on campus early Monday morning and decorated the school with red balloons, bows, ribbon and banners. On Tuesday, there was a red bake sale on the deck and US students could buy sweets to eat and share. The annual Cake Walk was on Wednesday, and 20 participants competed to be the last 7 standing and win a cake each. Congrats to our final winner, freshman Apollo K.
Members of the club also made informative posters about smart decision making and hung them around Landy Hall. There were ribbons for students to wear proclaiming "I'm a Drug Free Kid".
Thanks to Presidents, seniors Ali Appelbaum '15 and Sabrina Murphy '15, and all the enthusiastic members of SADD!
