Athletics

GIRLS: Chargers 192, Northside Christian 87
BOYS: Chargers 217, Northside Christian 79

The Chargers Swim and Dive team spent last Thursday evening celebrating our seven seniors and recognizing all that they have done for the team this year and in the past.  Congratulations to Kylie A., Monica C., Sarah M., Molly R., Josh C., Mark M. and Paul R. on a very successful high school swimming career!

The celebration began with a team dinner provided by senior parents and continued with underclassman standing up and sharing their thoughts about what each senior has meant to them. Following the dinner was the meet against traditional senior night foe, Northside Christian. Both the girls team and the boys team were victorious to make it that much more special.

The girls won all three relays with Athina Z., Taylor Anne N., Courtney C., and Meredith L. on the 200 Medley; all seniors (Molly R., Sarah M., Kylie A. and Monica C.) on the 200 Free and Hannah B., Courtney C., Athina Z. and Meredith L. on the 400 Free.  Individual winners were Courtney C. (200 IM), Meredith L. (100 Fly and 100 Back), Athina Z. (500 Free) and Laura H. (100 Breast).

On the boys side, the Chargers took all three relays as well with Felix S., Josh C., Mark M. and Corey C. on the 200 Medley; Misha M., David S., PJ F., and Max K. on the 200 Free; and the 400 Free staffed by Josh C., Paul R., Felix S. and Mark M.  Individual winners were Josh C. (200 Free and 100 Breast), Luigi P. (200 IM and 100 Fly), Mark M. (50 and 100 Free), Felix S. (500 Free) and Oliver H. (diving).

During the diving break, all the seniors were again recognized. Coach Patty read the forms they had filled out with their accomplishments, plans for the future and parting words as they were accompanied by their parents. Flowers and embroidered towels were presented to all. After the ceremony the seniors did their traditional dives from the diving board and everyone decided it was best if they stick to swimming!
