Chargers Baseball 2:1 in Preseason

Athletics

Chargers Baseball went 2-1 in the preseason.

In the opener against Dixie
Hollins, Anthony F. pitched a complete game shutout with 13 strikeouts to lead the Chargers to a 2-0 victory.

Griffin M. got the win on the mound in the Chargers’ second shutout, a 7-0 win against Canterbury, with Cole E. pitching three strong innings in relief.  Cole E. and Avery C. both added to the Chargers’ score by hitting soaring homeruns. And Brent S., playing catcher, made an impressive double play, getting the out at home plate with a great throw from Avery C. in right field and then throwing out a base runner at second.

The Chargers lost the final preseason game to St. Pete Catholic 6-1 when they were not able to get the bats going.

In the regular season opener against Northside Christian, the Chargers struggled with the cold weather and came up short in a 7-4 loss.

The Chargers’ next game is Friday, February 27, against district rival St. Pete Catholic at 4:15 at Hernandez Family Field. Come out and support your Chargers Baseball!
