Kate DiCamillo's "Flora and Ulysses" was a required summer reading book for entering sixth graders. This wonderful, heartfelt and humorous novel centered around a little girl and her superhero squirrel. In preparation for a graded writing assignment on the book, the students created a character relationship map which fostered further discussions.
