Journaling Life Science

Middle School News

In seventh grade Life Science, it is essential that students spend time physically interacting with life and nature around them. Since Florida is a treasure trove of living things, the class heads to the Native Classroom behind Shorecrest every few weeks. Some of the course's essential questions are: What are the living things around me? How do living things interact with their environment? How do I impact the living things around me?

One way Chargers share their answers to these questions is through Nature Journals. These journal entries combine science process skills, creative writing, sketching, and photography. Interacting with nature and then reflecting on their experiences gives students a new perspective and lets them see how they are a part of something wondrous!
