It was a very exciting morning in the Lower School building on Wednesday, as Kindergarten students met their tenth grade buddies for the first time face-to-face! The week before, buddies had exchanged letters, sharing their interests, favorite things, and stories about themselves. Needless to say, there was great enthusiasm in the Kindergarten classrooms when the tenth graders arrived with huge smiles on their faces and books to read to their new friends. The Kindergarteners reciprocated - sharing their favorite books and inviting the sophomores to color with them. It's the beginning of a friendship that will continue until the class of 2021 graduates, and even beyond!
This Kindergarten / tenth grade connection is part of Shorecrest's strategic initiative to strengthen the bonds of our community among the divisions. Third grade and seventh grade have also paired up and participated in a number of joint activities this year - from lunches, to games, to service projects.
